Children’s Fashion Photography
There is more to being a children’s fashion photographer than being creative with lighting and backgrounds. The most important aspect of children’s fashion photography is to make the children feel at ease. Patience and finally being a big kid yourself are two more, and the last I have in abundance 😉 …
The latest kids fashion shoot was for Leisurewear International based in Manchester and comprised of newborn to teenager. So basically covering the whole spectrum. The shoot was part studio and part location and for this blog I’m concentrating on the studio part. Now although I do have my own studio sometimes I’m asked to set up at the clients premises. This was the case with Leisurewear. The studio space was more than adequate with ample space for what I needed to achieve.
The brief was left up to myself and fashion stylist Sam Thomson. So with many wonderful props provided by Sam and various backgrounds, along with blocks to enhance the set. The photoshoot ideas were in place. The child models were picked by Leisurewear and I have to say all were brilliantly behaved and with the help of the props and the big kid effect, the shots came out very nicely indeed. One of the most favourite props of the shoot was of course the mini motorbike, again sourced and provided by Sam.
Props make a big difference in a studio photoshoot creating the image and style to compliment the clothing, whilst not taking over. Which looking at the shots we definitely achieved and gave leisurewear the look they wanted that we had discussed prior to the fashion shoot.
The next part of the photoshoot was to be location but that will be for another blog.
