Food and lifestyle photographer.
I recently worked on a photoshoot for a Robert Andrew specialising in low-carb sour dough breads, collaborating with Parker Design and food stylist Kate Bottomley. The focus of the shoot was to highlight the breads themselves, using carefully chosen toppings and foods to complement their textures and flavors without overpowering them.
The shoot was intentionally minimalist, with simple backgrounds to ensure the bread remained the focal point in every shot. By avoiding unnecessary distractions, we were able to celebrate the unique qualities of each loaf , it’s airy interior, and artisanal details—through creative food photography.
Styling and Photography
Kate’s styling was key to the success of the shoot. Each loaf was paired with thoughtful toppings and side dishes, emphasizing how these breads can enhance a variety of meals. Vibrant yet understated garnishes added colour and texture, helping to tell the story of how these products fit into everyday life.
As a food and lifestyle photographer, I focused on emulating natural light to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Every detail, from the crust’s tones to the breads soft texture, was carefully highlighted. Simple compositions and uncluttered backgrounds ensured that the bread was always the star of the image, while the styling and lighting enhanced its appeal.
The Results
The final images achieved the perfect balance of artistry and simplicity. They captured the bakery’s story through visuals that were inviting yet understated, showcasing the breads in a way that felt both aspirational and relatable.
This project was a great example of how creative food photography can elevate a product while remaining authentic to its purpose. Working with Parker Design and Kate Bottomley was a pleasure, and the collaborative approach ensured the bakery’s vision was fully realized.
