Location Advertising Photography .. Fun in the Snow
Shooting location advertising photography is always challenging for photographers. It is also enjoyable. Throw in a crisp winter day with plenty of snow and the two are amplified.
Fortunately the shoot was for fashion accessories covering hats, scarves and gloves. This came in handy for me throughout the day. Photography in the snow can make for some great shots but can leave the overall tones looking a little cold (obviously). Which is why I brought along my portable Broncolor lighting kit. . No plug sockets out in the field. The lighting gave the shots a touch of warmth. Now I know it can be said ‘add it in post processing’ but I guess I’m old fashioned. I believe in shooting it the right way from the start. A throw back to my film days (showing my age) ..
The models were Jake and India of Nemesis Manchester. As you can see from the shots they had fun in the snow with me clicking away and dodging the odd snowball or two along the way.
With fashion photography I believe the more natural the shots the better and I guess the snow helped and credit to the models as well as both were very professional throughout the day.
All done and a great day of shooting completed with the client more than happy with the results and just enough time to get my own back with a snowball fight at the end …
